Feb 09, 2019

Over the years, China's cosmetics market has grown at an average annual rate of 15%, and has begun to take shape. In 2002, the whole market achieved a total sales of 45 billion yuan. It is predicted that the total sales of the market will reach 80 billion yuan in 2010. As the main materials in this market, plastics and glass will also have a greater use. Most cosmetics are liquid, emulsion or paste, and do not have a distinctive appearance. It must be exquisite and unique packaging design to show its own characteristics. Therefore, cosmetics generally rely on packaging in order to achieve good sales. Plastics and glass are the main packaging materials for cosmetics at present, among which plastic is the most widely used.

As far as the present situation is concerned, due to the light and cheap quality of plastics, it is easy to form large-scale production, and can be made into bottles of various sizes, transparency, opacity and various colors. Moreover, the printing performance is very good. The instructions, labels and bar codes can be printed directly on the surface of the container by means of heat transfer, ink-jet and printing. Therefore, plastic products have occupied more than 80% of the cosmetics packaging market and become the most important packaging container of cosmetics. In the past, cosmetics were usually packaged in glass bottles, but because of the single variety of glass containers, even with better design ideas, due to technical and material constraints, it is often impossible to achieve.

Plastic materials have great advantages in this respect. They not only have abundant sources, but also have good moulding properties. They can be used to manufacture plastic containers of various structures and shapes, such as bottles, cans and boxes, and can also be used for various decoration and decoration designs. In addition, in recent years, the rapid development of the application of PET resin in cosmetic containers has led to a major change in the replacement of glass bottles with plastics.
